Cervical cancer screening supports detection of symptoms that may become cancer and is estimated to save 4,500 lives in England each year. The screening rate in 2020 for Shropshire was 77.5% a slight improvement from 77% for 2019. The screening rate is the highest for any authority in the West Midlands region. The rate for England stands at 70.2% and 70.1% for the West Midlands region.
