Number of apprentice starts per year in Shropshire
Apprenticeships provide an opportunity to gain a recognised qualification whilst receiving work based training and paid employment. For employers the scheme offers the opportunity to develop their own staff, increase productivity and improve staff retention .
The number of apprentice starts for the year to Mar 2017 in Shropshire was 4,000. This comprised of:
1,060 aged under 19
1,460 aged 19 to 25
1,480 aged over 25.
The majority of apprenticeships were within the engineering and manufacturing sectors - see table below.
