Cervical cancer screening supports detection of symptoms that may become cancer and is estimated to save 4,500 lives in England each year. The screening rate in 2019 for Shropshire was 77% an improvement from 75.6% for 2018. The screening rate is the highest for any authority in the West Midlands region. The rate for England stands at 69.8% and 69.6% for the West Midlands region.
